SR 42 REALIGNMENT
Implementation of SUE - The Georgia Department of Transportation requires the use of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) on most design-build projects and recommends that District Utilities Engineers and Project Managers consider its use on any project where inaccurate underground utility information would negatively impact the project in a significant way.
Project candidates to employ SUE should be submitted to the State Utilities Office by the District Utilities Engineer or GDOT Project Manager as early as possible in a projectís development. For additional information regarding SUE project requests, please refer to the SUE pages on GDOT Utilities web pages.
The proper implementation of SUE in relation to the projectís development is critical to maximizing its usefulness in utility conflict avoidance. Below is a general guide as to when each Quality Level of SUE investigation should begin for each major phase of project development.
